About the event
Sntsk'il'ntən - Black Mountain Regional Park is one of the most wild and beautiful areas close to Kelowna's Downtown core. Starting early will give our group a good chance at encountering some wildlife, (Elk, Deer, Moose, Porcupines, Black bears, Bobcat, Coyotes and Mountain lions are all possible!) Golden eagles, Dusky grouse, American three-toed woodpeckers and Northern pygmy owls are frequently encountered on this hike, among many other interesting birds. We will visit a grove of ancient firs and pines on our descent, as well as some groves of ancient Rocky Mountain juniper bushes, tended to by Townsend's solitaires.
This will be a moderately difficult hike, with some off trail sections, and lots of elevation gain, but we will take our time and make frequent stops for water and observation.
